How CompassNG uses cookies and similar technologies to provide, secure, and improve our news intelligence platform.

Last updated: March 15, 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, provide a better user experience, and give website operators useful information.

Cookies can be "session" cookies (which are deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them). They can be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services embedded in the website ("third-party cookies").

2. How We Use Cookies

CompassNG uses cookies for the following purposes:

  • Authentication — To securely identify you after you log in, so you do not need to re-enter your credentials on every page or API request.
  • Preferences — To remember your settings and preferences, such as your selected theme (light or dark mode), sidebar state, and preferred response view format.
  • Session Management — To maintain your active organization context as you navigate between different parts of the dashboard.

We do not currently use cookies for advertising, behavioural tracking, or cross-site profiling.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

We categorize our cookies into the following types:

  • Essential Cookies — Required for the platform to function. These cookies enable core features like authentication and security. The platform cannot operate properly without them.
  • Functional Cookies — Enhance your experience by remembering your preferences and settings. Disabling these cookies means the platform will not remember your preferences between sessions.
  • Analytics Cookies — Help us understand how visitors interact with the platform by collecting anonymous usage data. We do not currently use analytics cookies but may introduce them in the future with appropriate notice.

4. Managing Cookies

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View which cookies are stored on your device and delete them individually or in bulk.
  • Block all cookies or only third-party cookies.
  • Configure your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set.
  • Set exceptions for specific websites.

Please note that blocking or deleting essential cookies (such as the authentication cookie) will prevent you from logging in and using the CompassNG dashboard. You will need to log in again each time you visit the platform.

Disabling functional cookies will not prevent you from using the platform, but your preferences (theme, sidebar state, response view format) will not be remembered between sessions.

5. Third-Party Cookies

CompassNG does not currently use any third-party cookies. All cookies listed above are first-party cookies set directly by the CompassNG platform.

If we introduce third-party analytics or other services that set cookies in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy with details about those cookies, their purposes, and how to manage them. We will notify registered users by email before any such change takes effect.

6. Updates to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

For material changes — such as introducing new categories of cookies or third-party tracking — we will provide notice via email to registered users at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
